The [I 009 / klipspringer] is about the size of a goat. It stands on rounded, raised hooves giving the impression of walking on tiptoe. Its coat is grayish-brown and its horns are short and ringed with sharp tips. The klipspringer is a browser which eats flowers, fruits, young shoots and leaves from a variety of bushes and can go months without drinking water. Unlike the nomadic wildebeest, this species of antelope spends its life within a range of about an acre. The male and female pairs are monogamous, spending most of their lives within a few feet of one another.
